The Irish elites do not have much of a plan for anything whatsoever, but the first thing this new Government has moved quickly on is to sign us up to the War Party, the manic multi-headed beast that includes Nato, Russia, the zionazis, Iran, et cetera. Of course it is the Nato branch of the War Party that the Partionists are fluttering their skirts at. Europe gets serious on security, will Ireland follow? asks the Irish Times podcast: can Europe defend itself without the United States? they wondered a few days later. They are just asking questions of course…
Now Irish neutrality is notional, since the Partionists have allowed the US military to use Shannon for their various genocidal campaigns. Plus, the tiny Irish military has some kind of grubby arrangement with the English military—absurd, since the only real danger to Ireland has always been, and will always be, from the English; recall that we are a highly food secure State, with our larger neighbour being desperately food insecure, and you might understand the circumstances in which the English would move from their colony in the north east of our country across the whole State once more.
In any case, the Irish Government has released a statement boasting that one of the anonymous band of people sitting at Cabinet has “secured the approval of Government to reform the so-called ‘Triple Lock’ mechanism”, that is, removing the need for UN approval before troops are deployed.
Here is the first justification given:
The amendments will reinforce Ireland’s ability to pursue an independent foreign policy by removing the power of UN Security Council permanent members to veto our national sovereign decisions[.]
Which somewhat gives the game away, written as it is in the familiar language of the Right. But never fear that such coded language would suffice for a Government that is presumably acting following a call from the US Embassy (or have these people so internalised the wishes of the Americans that they act on orders in advance?). An Táiniste spells it out:
But under our current triple lock system, countries like Russia have the power to veto Ireland’s participation in missions via their role as permanent members of the UN Security Council. We don’t believe that Putin or other leaders should have a veto on whether our troops can be deployed.
We must stop the War Party from influencing our decisions…by making it easier to submit to the decisions of the War Party! Putin is only one of the génocidaires sitting at the UN Security Council. Would the State not prove its Independence and Sovereignty by putting its energy into fighting for Reform of the UN Security Council? Here Macdara, like the regime representatives at the Irish Times, is merely offering a rhetorical question.
We are living in a new era in Europe, in which Ireland also faces significant new security and defence challenges, and we must consider how best to respond [something something something neutrality something something] and it will ensure we remain fully consistent with the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
Those who make War will always argue that they uphold Principles and Law. When the War Party fights, it will be for Peace, and we will be thrown into the fray in the name of protecting our ability to act independently.
